Clean Air Planner

This Privacy Policy describes how Clean Air Planner - AQI Monitor ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our Android application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in a transparent and responsible manner.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide the App's features:

• Email Address: Collected during account registration via Firebase Authentication. Used solely to identify your account and enable secure login.
• Password: Encrypted and managed entirely by Firebase Authentication. We never store or access your raw password.
• Device Location (GPS): Collected only when you grant permission and only while you are actively using the App. Your last known coordinates are cached locally on your device (never on our servers) so that our periodic air quality alert check - which runs every 15 minutes even when the App is closed - can look up air quality for your area without requesting a new GPS fix. The App does not access your location in the background; it only reuses a location you previously shared while the App was open.
• App Usage Data: Firebase may collect anonymized crash reports and basic analytics (such as app version and device type) to help us improve stability. This data is not linked to your personal identity.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your name, phone number, or physical address.
• We do not collect any health, medical, or biometric data.
• We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your personal information with any third parties for marketing purposes.
• We do not track your location continuously or in the background.
• We do not store your GPS coordinates on any server.

3. How We Use Your Information

The information collected is used exclusively for the following purposes:

• To create and manage your user account securely.
• To allow you to log in and access your saved preferences.
• To fetch real-time air quality data for your current location or selected station.
• To send AQI alert notifications (only if you enable this feature in Settings).
• To process and respond to abuse or feedback reports you submit through the App.
• To improve App performance and fix bugs using aggregated, anonymized data.

4. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services. Each has its own Privacy Policy:

• Firebase Authentication (Google LLC): Manages user login and account security. See Firebase Privacy Policy .
• World Air Quality Index (WAQI): Provides real-time AQI data. No personal data is sent to WAQI. See WAQI Privacy Policy.
• Google Play Services: Used for app distribution and updates. See Google Privacy Policy .

5. Location Permission

The App requests the ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION or ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION permission to automatically find the nearest air quality monitoring station. This permission is:

• Requested only when you use the GPS feature in the foreground - not on app launch.
• Never used to access your live location while the App is closed or backgrounded.
• Completely optional - you can search for stations manually without granting it.

The App does not request or hold the "Allow all the time" (background) location permission on Android. For AQI alert notifications (see Section 6), the App reuses the last location you shared while the App was open, stored locally on your device only - it does not obtain a new location reading in the background.

You can revoke location permission at any time via your device's Settings -> Apps -> Clean Air Planner -> Permissions.

6. Notifications

If you enable AQI notifications in Settings, the App periodically (approximately every 15 minutes) checks air quality using your last known location or manually selected station - both stored locally on your device - and sends a local device notification if air quality reaches an unhealthy level. This check does not access your live location in the background and does not transmit your location to our servers. No notification data is transmitted to external servers beyond the standard air-quality lookup itself.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational steps to protect your information:

• All authentication is handled by Google Firebase with industry-standard encryption.
• Data transmitted between the App and WAQI is sent over HTTPS.
• We do not maintain our own database of user personal information.

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy & Child Safety

Clean Air Planner is intended for use by individuals 18 years of age and older. The App requires account registration and is not directed at, designed for, or marketed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your country).

We are committed to child safety. Specifically:

• No child-directed content: The App does not contain content that is directed at or intended for children.
• No collection of children's data: We do not knowingly collect, store, or use personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has created an account, we will immediately delete that account and all associated data.
• No user-generated content: The App does not allow users to post, share, or upload any content publicly. There are no chat, comment, or social features. This eliminates any risk of child exploitation through user-generated content.
• No communication between users: The App has no direct messaging, contact discovery, or social networking features of any kind.
• Abuse reporting: The App provides an in-app Report Abuse feature (Settings -> Report Abuse / Send Feedback) so any user can report concerns directly to us.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately at ruthvik.kodury@gmail.com. We will investigate and delete the information within 7 business days.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Your account data (email address) is retained as long as your account remains active. To delete your account and all associated data:

• Contact us at the email address below with the subject "Delete My Account".
• We will permanently delete your Firebase account and associated data within 7 business days.

10. Reporting Abuse

The App provides an in-app Report Abuse / Send Feedback feature (accessible via Settings -> Report Abuse). Reports are sent to our support email and used solely to address the reported issue. We do not share report contents with third parties.

11. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your personal data.
• Withdraw consent for data processing at any time.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
